Day 9: Messanges

Tuesday April 12, 2005

Today we went for walk on the beach, paddled in the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and visited a few familiar places from previous holidays.

For supper, we had a delicious starter of freshly baked bread with duck liver pate, followed by coq-au-vin.

There are more forest cycle paths on the itinerary for tomorrow on our way north to Mimizan. We’ve made the decision to head up as far as Arcachon before going inland. The plan is to ride through the city centre of Bordeaux to pick up the Dordogne which should give us a much better chance of finding places to stay. We’re still a little concerned about the number of campsites still closed for winter and the situation is likely to be worse as we head inland.
