Day 80: Zermatt

Wednesday June 22, 2005

We went up to the popular ski resort of Zermatt by train from Visp which it turned out to be a great idea because all the ski lifts were free for one day only, Zermatt was celebrating its 25th anniversary of having Europe’s highest mountain lift.

Unfortunately, we didn’t read the handouts properly and only made it a third of the way up. But we got some good photos of the mountains, the Matterhorn and surrounding peaks, plus a few glaciers.

Agata and I walked some of the way down on mountain paths; a beautiful place.
