Day 72: Dalaas to Walenstadt

Tuesday June 14, 2005, 87 km (54 miles) – Total so far: 4,525 km (2,812 miles)

Three countries in one day: first we said our goodbyes to Austria, then we cycled the entire length of Liechtenstein, stopping for lunch in Vaduz, and then on to Switzerland. Tonight we’re staying at Camping Walensee, the tent is pitched by a most beautiful lake surrounded by high mountains.

We had to have a ‘dry’ dinner this evening as a nasty storm rolled up the valley from the lake. Cheese, salami, bread rolls and Krisprolls are on the menu. It’s extremely windy and wet.

Liechtenstein is a haven for banking so the centre was full of modern concrete bank buildings. Shame they didn’t opt for tourism as the main industry.
