Sunday April 10, 2005, 68 km (42 miles) – Total so far: 418 km (260 miles)
We crossed the border into France today, so, if you include England, we’re already into our third country of the tour. The cycling was made easier today having dried out the tent in the laundry room at the youth hostel in San Sebastian, but it was another miserable day weather wise, with temperatures down as low as 7°c.
San Sebastian was a really nice city and both the old and modern centres are very beautiful. If it weren’t for the awful weather we probably would’ve stayed another night.
We flew our kite on a windy beach and drank tea as we waited for the hostel to open, then went out for a very average Mexican meal.
The Landes coast is very popular with British surfers and the hostel’s other guests are all here for the waves. They’re all busy checking the surfing forecast for the morning.
