Day 69: Innsbruck

Saturday June 11, 2005

It’s surprising how many campsites are on hills. The better ones are terraced, but the one in Innsbruck isn’t. So we didn’t really have the best night’s sleep.

We followed the normal tourist trail through the city today, and also managed to pick up some decent maps of Switzerland – it looks a bit hilly over there.

The weather was nice and sunny today. I really hope the forecast we saw on the Internet was wrong; otherwise it seems we’re in for similar weather to what we experienced on the Gloβglockner.

After just a couple more days, the Austrian leg of our journey will have come to an end. It’s been great, mostly how I imagined it would be, but a little more pungent. The Austrians do like their countryside to smell of shit; I’m not sure whether this is the case throughout the summer, perhaps it’s muck-spreading month?
