Friday June 10, 2005, 66 km (41 miles) – Total so far: 4,302 km (2,673 miles)
We eventually found the cycle path on the River Inn this morning after yesterday’s off-road antics; the path took us over the river to an interesting little village called Rattenberg.
The River Inn has carved a wide flat valley through the mountains so the cycling was easy and it was not too far to Innsbruck. The campsite is adequate and is in a fantastic location with sheer cliffs overlooking us.
As was the case in Germany, Austrian people are keen to help a cyclist with a map with his directions… sometimes too keen; a few times we have not wanted directions yet the locals have been fairly insistent that they provide them anyway. It can even be a nuisance sometimes.
The campsites are becoming busier as we head through June. Today’s is a much more reasonable €14 a night.
