This morning I raced down the Groβglockner to the cycle shop in Zell, then on to Bruck to drop off the tent at the campsite. Then I crawled back up the Groβglockner to Ferleiten to fit the new brake blocks to Agata’s bike, and then we both rode back down the mountain to Bruck.
The manager of the campsite on hearing our predicament offered us a quaint wooden chalet (it looks ancient) for the same price as camping, it has a fireplace, fridge and an oven. The cabin is full of stuffed wildlife. There’s a deer’s head, a duck, a rabbit and a squirrel.
Richard and Mick, the Australian cycle tourists, popped round to our cabin for a few beers in the evening. We talked about our travels and kept warm with a log fire. It snowed during the night on the mountain tops; it’s now June, I wonder when summer begins around here?
