Day 62: Villach to Kötschach Mauthen

Saturday June 4, 2005, 96 km (60 miles) – Total so far: 3,907 km (2,428 miles)

After a hard mountainous climb up to Bad Bleiberg we followed the comparatively flat R3 Gail Radweg in the afternoon (the cycle path which follows the River Gail). Amazingly I managed to recognise the Gasthaus I stayed in on a school skiing holiday aged 13.

We’re camping in the rain tonight in the Kötschach side of Kötschach Mauthen (one village is either side of the River Gail). We hope the weather improves as we’re heading north into the Glockner Alpine region tomorrow.
