Day 52: Vienna to Hainfeld

Wednesday May 25, 2005, 73 km (45 miles) – Total so far: 3,177 km (1,974 miles)

After our week of rest in Vienna we’re finally back on the road and into the foothills of the Alps, with beautiful meadows of flowers and some pretty big hills. We are staying in a fairly unusual campsite that’s part of an old Factory and has loads of many permanent caravans/sheds. I’m sure some of the residents here are permanent. We enjoyed a delicious dinner of Coq-au-vin cooked on our trusty camping stove and have been invited for a glass of wine this evening with the campsite’s owner and his young family.

Tomorrow’s route continues skywards with a few passes topping 1000m, although most alpine villages will be higher than this soon.
