Day 46: Tulln to Vienna

Thursday May 19, 2005, 77 km (48 miles) – Total so far: 3,095 km (1,923 miles)

The mileage is a little misleading today, only 30 km of the 76 was spent getting from Tulln to Vienna. The rest was spent riding around the city looking for a nice campsite. We settled on Camping West about 8 km from the centre, having rejected the site to the south of the city for being too close to the motorway. It was a good decision, Camping West is in a really nice leafy suburb to the north of Vienna, and we are planning to stay here a while. I’ve actually camped here before, 15 years ago whilst on a month long Euro-rail holiday aged 18.

I went through my second rear tyre of the trip today, the side-wall split again. It must be all the beer and sausages! We’re booked in for 5 nights to recuperate and to let Agata’s leg heal properly. We need to clean the bikes again and do some proper sightseeing before we head for the Alps.
