Day 43: Linz to Au

Monday May 16, 2005, 21 km (13 miles) – Total so far: 2,841 km (1,765 miles)

Agata’s lingering leg injury combined with another unexpected public holiday has forced an unplanned rest day. We’ve moved the tent 20 km down the Danube to a nicer site on the north bank of the river via short boat journey. We’re now in the tiny village of Au which has a nice marina and a few bars and restaurants.

Botanical note: it may be just at this time of year, but most of the forests in both Germany and Austria smell quite strongly of wild garlic.
