Day 31: Belfort to Freiburg

Wednesday May 4, 2005, 140 km (87 miles) – Total so far: 1,971 km (1,225 miles)

We’ve been on the road for exactly a month and today we crossed from France to Germany, which is country number four of the tour. It was a long day, but the terrain was mostly flat. We arrived quite late, it was raining and we’re tired so we checked into quite an expensive hotel for our first night in the and of sausages.

We experienced a bit of everything weather wise today, we were given coffee and biscuits by one of the locals in Alsace village of Roggenhouse. It was really nice of him as we were hiding from a downpour in a bus shelter. He told us a little about the Alsace region and his village.

Freiburg is a lovely city, we were planning to stay a while but have decided to push on because of the awful weather.
