Day 25: Anse to Mâcon

Thursday April 28, 2005, 78 km (48 miles) – Total so far: 1,490 km (926 miles)

We spent the morning riding through the beautiful Beaujolais villages, before crossing the Saône to the widest of cycle paths and much flatter country for the afternoon ride to Mâcon.

Our campsite tonight is the Mâcon municipal site, and it’s packed with camper-van tourists from Holland and Germany all heading south for the summer. It’s like a giant old-folks home on the move. I hope that we’ll be wealthy enough in retirement to be able to migrate for the summer, the opposite direction to the birds
