Day 179: Benidorm to Alicante

Thursday September 29, 2005, 47 km (29 miles) – Total so far: 11,095 km (6,894 miles)

We had a short ride down the coast to Alicante to spend the afternoon on the beach and swim in the sea. It was very hot today, just like August in Italy. Great to be by the coast.

€€30 seems to be the going rate for a cheap hotel; last night’s had air-con, but you had to shove 50c coins into the TV to get a picture. Pay-for-view TV is a little more basic here in Spain. We were quite engrossed in ‘The Guns of Navarone’ when the money ran out. The TV is free in today’s place which is cheap and comfortable and close to the centre of town and beaches.

I’ve had a minor mouth infection that’s been getting worse over the last few days; I may have to visit a doctor or dentist soon.
