Day 178: Grau de Gandia to Benidorm

Wednesday September 28, 2005, 80 km (50 miles) – Total so far: 11,048 km (6,865 miles)

We had a fantastic ride through the mountains to the concrete jungle of Benidorm. We hung out our wet laundry whilst having lunch (it was a damp night and everything refused to dry).

Benidorm is a huge resort town with towers rising high into the sky. They really shouldn’t have let the Spanish have the formula for concrete.

We spotted lots of anti-tourist graffiti today… ‘no more villas’, ‘tourists go home’ and ‘our country is being crushed by the invader’s jack-boot’ being just a few I remember seeing.

It’s still 26°c at 8pm as we enjoy our cocktails in a seafront bar.
