Day 177: València to Grau de Gandia

Tuesday September 27, 2005, 89 km (55 miles) – Total so far: 10,968 km (6,815 miles)

We had a crap breakfast at the youth hostel and spent some of the morning finding better maps of Spain and posting a few of the old ones home.

We left València via a dried up section of the Turia river which is now a sunken city park. I’ve no idea why they moved the river, but it works really well.

We had some pleasant quiet roads to ride on through fruit orchards before encountering a series of seaside resort towns full of high rise holiday apartments. Most are now deserted until next year. I swam in the sea twice today – it’s still lovely and warm.
