Day 171: Barcelona

Wednesday September 21, 2005

We took a long walk around the city – a really great place. We toured the cathedral and the ‘soon to be completed’ Sagrada Familia, which is still being built after 100 years of construction. Antoni Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece is one of Barcelona’s most popular tourist attractions. Construction is set to continue at least until 2041, but it has already become Barcelona’s most important landmark.

We met a fellow English traveller in the campsite bar who told us about the not to be missed Santa Tecla festival taking place right now 90km south of here in Tarragona, so it looks like we’re going there tomorrow.
