Day 161: Truscas to Valras Plage

Sunday September 11, 2005, 103 km (64 miles) – Total so far: 9,917 km (6,162 miles)

We followed the Orb down its beautiful green valley, passing a few gorges and some wide plains to the Mediterranean seaside resort of Valras. It was mostly downhill as you would expect but with enough uphill stretches for us to feel we’ve done a bit of work.

Valras is on the verge of shutting down for the season so we’ve managed to find a great deal on a mobile home. At €€23.30 a night it’s cheaper than most of the campsites we’ve stayed in during high season.

The weather was a bit crazy today – hot sunshine with localised thunderstorms and some very heavy rainfall. Had it snowed too, we would have experienced all four seasons in one afternoon.
