Day 146: Cagnes

Saturday August 27, 2005

We’ve now worked out roughly where we are on the map, just north of Cagnes-sur-Mer near Nice. The weather is pretty miserable today although it’s still very hot and humid.

We saw on the television news in Italy that both France and Spain have had very dry summers and that campers in France have even been prohibited from cooking with a naked flame. All that seems to have changed now that we’ve arrived… it’s pissing it down!

Camping Le Green is acceptable for a rest day, but the restaurant… blimey, over €€60 for a pizza. When we checked out we discovered they had charged us €€6 extra for the bikes, absolutely shocking, punished for being green.

Our campsite at Cagnes, just north of Nice. Most of the trees on the other side of the valley have died following the recent drought
