Day 14: Bergerac

Sunday April 17, 2005

I explored the old town, wrote a few postcards and lazed around in the hotel room watching television, we saw British TV detective show Midsomer Murders and the movie Taxi Driver, both dubbed into French. Agata is stuck in bed with a nasty cold, just as we’re about to tackle the mountains of the Massif Central.

Bergerac has a nice old centre, but the rest of the town was nothing special. There are a few weird characters kicking about too.

The sun shone today, but the forecast for tomorrow is predictably awful, rain in the morning and thunderstorms for the afternoon. The nearest youth hostel is two days ride away so tomorrow will have to be a hotel again.

A note of cultural interest; on Sunday afternoon national television we saw a live bullfight, including the slaughter of the animal, followed by some soft porn.
