Friday May 6, 2005, 58 km (36 miles) – Total so far: 2,104 km (1,307 miles)
After a late start (forgot to set the alarm) and some essential shopping, we’ve made it to the famous Donauradweg that will eventually take us to Vienna.
The Donau (or Danube to us English speakers) is little more than a large stream at the moment, big enough to have spawned a string of pretty towns along its banks but not yet deep enough for a swim.
We were approached by an elderly zimmer-pimp near the tourist office in Fridingen. He offered us a room for the night in his daughter’s house, we accepted. It’s a decent enough room with a shower for a very reasonable €35. Maybe you’re supposed to haggle?
