Day 106: Verona to Venice

Monday July 18, 2005, 152 km (94 miles) – Total so far: 6,483 km (4,028 miles)

At 152km, this was our longest day of the tour so far. We struggled to get out of Verona and had to resort to using the compass and just heading south-east. The roads were hectic until we’d got a fair distance from the city and they got busier and wider again as we approached Venice.

Our only significant climb of the day was a 400m monster in searing heat, later in the afternoon we felt a spot or two of rain. it was very humid.

The campsite at Fusina is pretty good and is only a short ferry ride from Venice. We are planning to explore the city tomorrow before we head down the coast for a well earned break by the sea.

The campsite in Venice was right on the bank of the Laguna Veneta
