Day 102: Prato allo Stelvio to Lago di Caldoro

Thursday July 14, 2005, 109 km (68 miles) – Total so far: 6,125 km (3,806 miles)

It was mostly downhill through wonderful countryside for our ride to Caldoro and it was really hot too. 31°c was spotted on an electronic sign outside a chemist at 5pm, so it may well have been hotter earlier in the day.

Most of today’s ride was on cycle paths – which made the day even better. The only section of road we shared with motorised transport was through some quiet apple orchards and it was virtually traffic free.

Our campsite by the lake is pleasant enough although we’re packed in again because the site is virtually full. There are lots of campsites in this area though so finding space shouldn’t be a big problem.
